The Student Affairs Office at West Campus will be closed on Friday, March 28, for the Student Affairs and Academic Affairs Summit. Academic Advisors will not be available.
Responsibilities
Advisors at PHSC:
- Guide students in selecting or changing majors, understanding requirements, and interpreting degree audits
- Aid students in setting clear, achievable academic and career goals and developing a vision for their future
- Assist students with course selection and registration
- Prepare incoming students for the PHSC classroom environment through group and one-on-one advising sessions
- Help students identify appropriate institutional resources and provide referrals when needed
Students at PHSC are expected to:
- Stay informed about important dates, deadlines, and academic policies by regularly checking college email, the PHSC website, and academic calendars
- Familiarize with PHSC student systems to view course options, enroll in classes, and track academic progress
- Meet regularly with an advisor to review academic plan and discuss personal life events that may impact academic success
- Actively participate in academic support services such as tutoring, counseling, and workshops to enhance learning and academic performance
- Take ownership of actions and decisions affecting academic progress
